21 local farmer started in 2005 to build a standard 500 kWel Biogas plant - operating with: Maize.

After some years they became the same "economically problems"  with floating material prices, "tank-food" discussion and low tariffs, so that they had to change their business model to "survive" and run the plant economically positive.

In cooperating with the management team of SET an Investment Group could be involved and under the strategic management of Mr MARTH the new and innovativ strategy took place. Within this comprehensive new project the biogas-plant could be re-developed, extended (essential more power) and the existing biogas-plant operation was totally reorganized.

Actually the plant produces several "products" for different use and could increase the capacity up to 3,5 MWel - equivalent. The "old" and EVM Biogas-plant and now "new" EVM Biogas Plant became with this investment an international unique show-case, well-known all over the world. Many delegations from all over the world are still visiting the plant.

Also the politicians were impressed of the Location and the innovative developments. Environmental Chancellor of Niederösterreich, Dr. Stephan PERNKOPF discussing with project leader and CEO Christian MARTH.

The Niederösterreich Government was co-financing the development of the pre-treatment system with public subvention.

As project leader and founder of MethaPOWER and SET , Christian MARTH welcomed  the Environmental & Energy  (responsable) Vice Chancellor of upper Austria, Mr. Stephan PERNKOPF and the Mayor of Margarethen am Moos, Mr. Markus PLÖCHL.

The Innovations

1. Substrat

NO Maize use - only agricultural residues, manure, maize staw, sorghum;

2. "SET-Power-Converter"

own developed Pre-treatment System, tested over 4 years; This is the key to reduce the inlay material costs dramatically - and to increase the gas output;

3. Biogas-upgrading (purification unit)

- The first and most modern Membransystem with 3-4

   stages to purify Biogas and feed pure Methan into the public grid;

- Separate upgrading system for the fuel station (stand alone / stop&go solution)

4. BiogasTractor

The first world wide Bifuel tractors (diesel+methan) are operating since 2009  at the plant and on the field.

5. Local Heating System

More then 60 clients are direct connected to the heat system of the biogas plant.

6. High quality Fertilizer

After Fermentation  the Biogas plant produces liquid and solid fertilizer, the farmer take it back and bring onto the agriculturals field as high qualtiy fertlizer. This system reduce the costs, bacterias and improve the soil Quality, which means the quantity and Quality of the plants are increasing.

7. Commercial CO2 and Heat useage

In 2015 one of the largest tomato plants (green house - 7 Ha) was implemented - direct located near to the biogas plant. This greenhouse facility is connected to the biogas plant and serviced with CO2 and Heat - this leads to a real CO2-reduction (!).
