SET is currently involved in various integrated Biogas production projects on waste basis in Sub Sahara Africa with special focus on Nigeria and DRC involving several agro industry applications such as:
-palm oil industry (for local market / pharmacy) and
- sugar cane production,
- grass root agricultural cultivation projects as well as
- municipal waste based energy applications.
The applied SET biogas technology provides for tailor made local energy production and consumption scenarios thereby avoiding large scale infrastructure investment in transmission grids and providing for the necessary flexibility of complex developing scenarios as encountered in Sub Sahara Africa.
The main challenge is to transfer know-how, that they are able to produce for their local food demand and to develop a local market to sell products.
The projects showcase that electrifying Africa from renewable sources wíll become an economically and technically viable reality while boosting agricultural production and effective waste Management.
Furthermore SET is preparing new mobility concepts and renewable energy utilization projects based on waste, introducing CNG and LNG from biogas production for sustainable low cost transport applications.
